主要从事病毒感染治疗药物的基础理论与应用研究。开展细胞、组织、动物水平的抗病毒药物筛选及药效学评价，药物的抗病毒或者抗炎症机制研究。积极与病毒感染治疗新药研制的研究机构及企业合作，研发抗病毒及抗炎症药物。感兴趣的病毒包括：呼吸道病毒、肝炎病毒、疱疹病毒、肠道病毒、虫媒病毒、人类免疫缺陷病毒及冠状病毒等。近年来，在流感病毒感染及其所致的炎症因子风暴在流感致病中的作用，流感性肺炎的抗病毒和抗炎症治疗新药的发现等方面做了较多的探索。重点开展针对流感病毒、冠状病毒、腺病毒等呼吸道病毒感染治疗药物的研究。在加强抗病毒药物基础研究的同时，近年来与制药企业紧密合作，积极开展抗病毒新药的研发工作。共发表SCI论文60余篇；获授权国家新药发明专利32项、申请国家新药发明专利50余项。任Frontiers in Immunology杂志Associate Editor，“国家重大新药创制”科技重大专项、国家自然科学基金重点项目等国家级项目评审专家。
